Dogs, Humans and Frisbees Collide at the Last Fling
International disc dog enthusiasts vie for the chance to enter the World Championships.
Teeth met plastic on Sunday at the Ashley Whippet Invitational World Qualifier Competition, where teams of dogs and their owners competed for the opportunity to advance to the AWI World Championship. Named after Ashley Whippet, a renowned disc dog and the first world champion, the AWI World Championship inspires many to hone their throwing and catching skills. Naperville has hosted this preliminary event for many years with the help of Ginny Wehrli-Hemmeter’s family, and she gives insight into this year’s K-9 competition.
