Police Seek Route 59 Traffic Violators Wednesday
A number of law enforcement agencies will be participating in the the increased patrols of Route 59 from Will County to Cook County.
Buckle up, keep your eyes on the road and your speed in check if you are travelling on Route 59 Wednesday.
The Naperville Police Department along with several other police and law enforcement agencies will be patrolling the Route 59 corridor from Will County to Cook County seeking out traffic violators, the Naperville Police Department said.
The initiative is meant to increase safety for those using Route 59, which will include traffic enforcement and education, according to the department. Police will be looking for speed, seat belt and other traffic violations.
Along with the Naperville Police Department, the Illinois State Police, Plainfield, Shorewood, Aurora, Warrenville, West Chicago, Bartlett and Streamwood police departments will be participating in the Route 59 patrols.

B.S. This is just another way to bring in more money to those suburbs. If they REALLY want to make 59 safer,, then repave it (finally) and widen the thing.

This truly IS about money. If they wanted to make it "safer" and stop "speeders" this idea would have been thought of a long time ago. Sorry that you guys are broke, but don't take it out on the taxpayers who pay for you in the first place.

I'm all for the police doing their job but to stand in a ditch with a speed radar gun? It just looks desperate and I look up to the police as I'm over 30! They should drive up and down 59 to know what is going on and give tickets that are warranted. How can you take a police officer seriously when they are standing in a ditch in front of a church? I could be wrong but as a resident for over 25 years the ditch is not the way. Our only hope now is that they made a ton of money and our taxes will go down or a great charity will benefit:)

It's safer to stand off to the side of the road doing radar! Once he gets a speeder he calls it in to a squad down the road that will stop the car! Why would you even do 30 over? Like I said I'm all for speed cameras on Rt.59!
