Board Member Tony Michelassi Seeks to Retain District 5 Seat

Michelassi, 26, announced his intention to run for another term at an election function on Sunday.

DuPage County Board member Tony Michelassi has announced that he will seek to retain his seat representing District 5.

Michelassi, 26, an Aurora Democrat, announced his intention to run for one of the three District 5 seats during an election event Sunday. Since 2009, Michelassi has been the chairman of the DuPage County Development Committee. He currently serves District 5 with residents Jim Healy and John Zediker.

He was elected to the DuPage County Board in 2008 and is completing his third year on the board, according to the Michelassi campaign. He cited his work on the county's recent zoning code amendments, votes in favor of the Navistar relocation to Lisle, federally funded infrastructure improvements, and opposition to tax increases or new taxes as some of his more recent accomplishments on the board.

"I'm proud of what I've been able to accomplish so far, and look forward to competing for another shot at serving the community that raised me," Michelassi said in a news release.

Former Naperville City Councilor Richard “Dick” Furstenau and Aurora businesswoman Tonia Jane Khouri have both announced they would run for one of the three District 5 seats.
