Local Gymnast Captures First Place at State, First Place at Regionals and Second Place at Nationals
Local gymnast and Metea Valley High School sophomore, Taylor Philipp, competed at the USAG Level 9 State Championship Meet in Bourbonnais March 25th, 2012. Philipp clinched the 1st place title for Floor Exercise and Vault, and earned 4th place All Around.
Philipp went on to compete at the Region 5 Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 14th, 2012 where she competed against top gymnasts from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan. At the Regional Meet, Philipp placed 1st on vault, 2nd on Floor Exercise and earned 3rd place All Around.
Philipp’s success continued at the Eastern Nationals on May 5, 2012 in Landover, Maryland, where she earned 2nd place on Vault, 6th place on Floor Exercise and 7th place All Around.
Philipp was able to thrive all season despite a back injury and associated soreness. She is a proud member of Phenom Gymnastics in Aurora, for whom she competed at all three Championship Meets.
