Linden Oaks presents renowned author, developer of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Kelly Wilson, PhD , internationally known author of “Mindfulness and Values in Acceptance Commitment Therapy,” will speak on Friday, May 4, 9 a.m.–12 noon at Edward Hospital’s Conference Center located at 27555 Diehl Rd. in Warrenville.  Linden Oaks at Edward, Edward’s behavioral health hospital, is sponsoring Dr. Wilson’s appearance.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is based on emerging clinical science that demonstrates the mindfulness and values in human wellbeing.  ACT is a hybrid therapy in terms of approach and technique, bringing together aspects of mindfulness, Gestalt therapy, and humanist-existential thought, all organized under a contextual behavioral framework.  The ACT approach is about embracing the challenges in life in order to make more committed, self-affirming choices and live according to personal values.

Dr. Wilson co-developed ACT and is devoted to the development and dissemination of ACT.  Over the last 20 years, he has published numerous articles, chapters and books on ACT.  His expertise in ACT and its underlying theory and philosophy is known worldwide.  He has led workshops in 21 countries.

The cost is $50.  Call (630) 527-6363 to register.
