Bring your family of outdoor adventurers, history buffs or budding artists to the free “Family Day at Mayslake” on Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook.
Come and explore Mayslake on a day filled with activities for the whole family, including archery, fishing, guided nature walks, games, family genealogy and art activities. Take a self-guided tour of the historic hall, and chat with specialists working to restore the building’s unique features. Bring your camera, and take an old-fashioned picture with a classic Model T Ford for a small donation to benefit restoration efforts at Mayslake Hall. And, join special activities presented by event partners, including the DuPage County Historical Museum, Lake View Nature Center, Music Together of Oak Brook and Elmhurst, Shelter Box USA, the Oak Brook Police Department K9 unit and the Oak Brook Historical Society and more.
Reservations are not required, and parking and admission are free. Families are invited to bring a lunch to picnic on the scenic grounds. Lemonade and popcorn will be available for purchase.
Mayslake Peabody Estate is owned and operated by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and is located at 1717 W. 31st St., about one-quarter mile west of Route 83. For information on “Family Day at Mayslake” and other programs, call 630-206-9566 or visit mayslakepeabody.com.
